Thirty bedrooms. Nobody drives home.
Every room in the house and the courtyard is yours for both nights, included in the hire fee. You allocate them — we simply put the names on the doors.
The best room in the house, and it is not close.
The whole of the first-floor south front: a carved four-poster, a dressing room, a bath under the window, and three sashes looking down the lake. It connects through to the Long Room, so the morning happens without anybody crossing a public corridor in a robe.
It is turned down while you are at dinner, and there is a proper breakfast tray in the morning for two people who probably need one.
Thirty rooms, four kinds
The Bridal Suite
First-floor south front. Four-poster, dressing room, roll-top bath, connecting door to the Long Room.
Principal Bedrooms
The old family rooms on the first floor. Four-posters or super-kings, park views, original shutters, very large baths.
House Bedrooms
First and second floor. Kings or twins, walk-in showers, and the quiet that comes with two-foot-thick walls.
The Courtyard
The old stables and coach house, thirty seconds across the gravel. Ground floor, step-free, ideal for families and for anybody who wants to be first to bed.
Thirty rooms in total, sleeping up to sixty-four. Two accessible ground-floor rooms with wet rooms; cots, extra beds and a nursery available at no charge.
Friday and Saturday. No per-room bill at the end.
Guest accommodation is the line that quietly doubles the cost of a country house wedding elsewhere. Here it is inside the hire fee: both nights, all thirty rooms, breakfast each morning, and no argument about who pays for Aunt Margaret.
The two meals nobody plans, and everybody remembers.
Friday is the rehearsal dinner in the Library — one long table, forty places, the two families finally in the same room with a glass in their hands.
Sunday is breakfast at whatever hour the house wakes up, eggs cooked to order, and the last of the flowers on the table. Most couples tell us afterwards that this is the meal they would repeat.
